(NewsNation) — Days after arresting people with an interest in kidnapping and murder of a California family of fourMerced County, California, police officers announced on Friday that they had detained the suspect’s brother, bringing the total number of suspects to two.
“Last night, (the Merced County Sheriff’s Office), with the assistance of the California DOJ, arrested Alberto Salgado, brother of Jesus Manuel Salgado. Alberto Salgado was arrested for criminal conspiracy, accessory and destruction of evidence,” MCSO wrote on Twitter Friday.
In addition to arresting Alberto Salgado, MCSO also announced the detention of his brother, Jesus, to the Merced County Jail on Friday following his initial sentence on Wednesday.
The news is the latest development after 27-year-old Jasleen Kaur, 36-year-old Jasdeep Singh, 39-year-old Amandeep Singh and 8-month-old Arohi Dheri. found dead Wednesday night in a garden what officials call “very very remote” near Dos Palos.
Attention was drawn to Jesus Manuel Salgado after his relatives informed authorities that he was involved in the kidnapping.
Jesus Manuel Salgado was previously convicted of first-degree robbery with the use of a firearm in Merced County, as well as attempted false imprisonment and attempts to prevent or obstruct the victim or witness.
