It is NOT easy for a non-governmental organization to maintain an orphanage especially if it relies only on donations from charitable people and help from groups with good intentions.
In reality, not all charitable groups are well-intentioned; there are others who just use orphanages to get their name out there.
The Home for the Angels Child Caring Foundation at the corner of Augusto Francisco and Coral Sts. which was established by former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza and his wife Evelina on February 14, 1995 to serve as a home for babies who were abandoned by their mothers in the hospital or thrown in the trash, is only supported by those who do charity.
According to Myrna Verecio, administrator of the orphanage, they were able to keep the institution stable because of the donations received. He said there are also politicians helping them in finding donations, such as 5th District Congressman Irwin Tieng and his wife Mrs. Ladylyn.
On Tuesday, Tieng collaborated with Xin Chao Manila, a project partnered by the Queen Sisters from Vietnam and the Philippines to provide financial assistance to the Home for the Angels.
The Queen Sisters from Vietnam and the Philippines is a friendship between the Miss Universe Vietnam Organization and the Miss Supranational Vietnam organized by the group “We Will Because We Can Movement” with the aim of promoting good relations between each beauty community in the two countries.
Wanting to help the Home for the Angels Child Caring Foundation, the Queen Sisters from Vietnam and the Philippines agreed to donate an amount of P250,000 which was the highlight of this activity.
Nguyn Hunh Kim Duyên, former Top 16 in Miss Universe 2021 and current 2nd Runner-Up in the held Miss Supranational, 2022 and Miss Universe 2018 Top 5 Nuê H’Hen who was personally accompanied by the Vice Mayor, became a representative in donating Yul Servo Nieto.
