MANILA, Philippines – At least 400 Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants are seeking amnesty or pardon from the national government.
Action for Advancement and Development of Mindanao (AFADMin) has forwarded the list of converts to Mohagher Iqbal, member of Parliament of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority in Cotabato City.
AFADMin consultant lawyer Badrodin Maguindra said the list consists of MILF commanders and members from different areas of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao who have applied for amnesty or pardon, including those in prison at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig and New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.
“If it is [being] analyzed through ideological considerations, MILF has not done wrong, but it is part of the global conflict resolutions, methodologies, and on the basis of the advice of our ulamah (Muslim scholars) for the sake of peace and best practices all over the world,” ani Iqbal.

Earlier, Lanao del Sur Representative Ziaur-Rahman “Zia” Alonto Adiong filed House Resolution No. 193 to urge the president to immediately appoint NAC members to expedite the processing of amnesty and pardon grants. RNA
