MANILA, Philippines- The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) District Intelligence Division (DID) and Public Information Office (PIO) went to the QCPD Press Corps office to dialogue with journalists to discuss their security.
This is what QCPD PBGEN Nicolas Torre III ordered to DID chief PLTCOL Christine Tabdi as well as the PIO led by PMAJOR Rohaina Asalan after the killing of seasoned broadcaster Percival Mabasa better known as Percy Lapid.
Tabdi was accompanied by his Deputy Chief PMAJOR Jun Fortunato including Deputy PIO chief PLT Johanna Lavarias when he met with officers and members of the QCPD Press Corps.
In the said conversation, Tabdi found out who is receiving death threats among journalists in Quezon City so that they can conduct a threat assessment and immediately provide security to any media whose life is threatened.
It can be recalled that the riding-in-tandem ambushed Lapid this Monday night in Las Piñas while he was riding in his car and was on his way to his studio.
The DID has provided a hotline number that the media can call immediately if their lives are in danger.
“This is the District Director’s order to us to ensure that journalists in this city are safe from any danger, I encourage the media who have death threats to immediately contact our office or call our hotline number which is 09175017066,” said Tabdi.
QCPD Press Corps president Almar Danguilan thanked the officers and members of the police for their concern to ensure the safety of the media in the city. Jan Sinocruz
