Private hospital group in PhilHealth: Issuance of claims, speed up

MANILA, Philippines – A group of private hospitals has once again called on the state health insurer to speed up its payment of long unpaid claims.

The Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines (PHAPI) confirmed the continuous release of payments from PhilHealth, but they indicated that reimbursement is still “slow”.

“We are expecting that the reimbursement claims that are still there among them will increase,” said Dr. Jose de Grano, president of PHAPi, to the senators.

PhilHealth said it has disbursed 75% of the ₱9.6-million worth of claims for 2022. It added that the average turnaround time for its payments is 41 days, which is faster than the 60-day required.

In the same committee hearing, PhilHealth officer-in-charge Eli Dino Santos reiterated that the agency has sufficient funds, “as long as we can manage our income and expenses efficiently.”

“PhilHealth is here to stay,” emphasized Santos. “It can meet its obligations when it is due. It will continue to meet its current [mga plano.]” RNA
