MANILA, Philippines – A lucky bettor will take home twice the prize after revealing that he owns two of the 433 winning tickets in the Grand Lotto 6/55 jackpot, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) said on Monday.
In Saturday’s 9 pm lotto draw, the PCSO announced that a total of 433 bettors got the winning combination 09-45-36-27-18-54, all numbers divisible by nine. Two of the winning bets belong to one person.
PCSO General Manager Mel Robles said he was surprised to learn an individual bet the same set of numbers twice.
“He said he had two tickets. I said, ‘Why two tickets, isn’t the series of 9 strange?’ He said, ‘It was just an accident. Pressed. I bet the other one goes with it.’ So he had two tickets… The second ticket came out, he paid for it,” explained Robles in an interview with CNN Philippines.
“So, I’m sure now that the 433 (winning individuals) are actually 432,” ani Robles.
The two tickets are considered valid and honored by the PCSO, according to the representative of the office’s corporate planning department, Roselle dela Umbria.
The bettor received two separate checks for the two tickets because each lottery ticket has its own code, Umbria explained.
The jackpot prize worth ₱236,091,188.40 is still divided by 433 based on the total number of winning tickets. This means that the bettor with two tickets took home twice the prize, or ₱1,090,490.
Meanwhile, Robles mentioned that the PCSO will release the stories of the winners as more of them start claiming their prizes in their office.
About 150 people went to the PCSO office in Mandaluyong City on Monday, but Robles said their tickets will still be processed before they are considered winners. RNA
