MANILA, Philippines – The former vice mayor of Dipaculao town in Aurora, Narciso Amansec, was ambushed and shot, along with his wife, and driver who were killed by unidentified suspects this Monday.
Police identified the other victims as Amansec’s wife, Merlina, and the driver, Leonard Talosa.
The victims were riding in a maroon pick up truck and were driving through Barangay Dibutunan when the ambush happened.
The police are currently investigating the incident as they continue to gather evidence and have organized a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG).
Meanwhile, in a statement posted on social media, the Amansec family said they are still in a state of shock and are asking for privacy for now.
“In behalf of the whole family. We appreciate your concerns po, and we thank you for reaching out. As much as we want to answer, we would like to keep our mourning privately for now. Please do understand that we are also in state of shock. Salamat po sa pang unawa. God bless us all,” ayon sa pamilya.
Aurora Gov. promised. Christian Noveras, in a Facebook post, of justice and condemned the killing of the victims.
“As Provincial Chief, I want justice for Bokal Amansec, his wife, and his driver,” said Noveras.
He instructed the Philippine National Police (PNP) to conduct a thorough investigation, adding that he will not allow this type of culture to dominate his province. RNA
