2 dumb and deaf men ticked off

MANILA, Philippines – Two men who are both mute and deaf are now under arrest after they grabbed a construction worker and took his cell phone early this morning, October 5 in Quezon City.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) PBGEN Nicolas Torre III identified those arrested as Adrian Buanviaje, 29 years old, resident of Brgy. Payatas, QC and Cristopher Balmores, 35, living in Bagong Silang, Camarin, Caloocan City.

According to Batasan Police Station 6 commander PLTCOL Morgan Aguilar, it was past 3 in the morning when they arrested the suspects.

The story of the victim, who refused to identify himself, was walking in Barangay Commonwealth when the suspects arrived on a motorcycle.

The two immediately pointed a knife at him and forcibly took the victim’s cellphone.

The victim quickly reported to the barangay tanod and the police which resulted in the arrest of the suspects after their motorcycle stopped running.

“Fortunately, we were caught, because the suspects’ motorcycle was not running and we also found out that both of them had been drinking,” said Aguilar.

Authorities had to ask for the help of a sign-language interpreter to convey to the suspects their rights in relation to their arrest.

It is known that the said interpreter was even a teacher of the suspects in SPED, so they were determined to be deaf and mute.

The suspects are already in jail and are scheduled to be charged with robbery holdup in the prosecutor’s office. Jan Sinocruz
