MANILA, Philippines – A group of health workers once again knocked on the Department of Health (DOH) office in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The health workers, led by the Alliance of Health Workers, are still calling for the benefits and compensation they received that are still not being given to them even in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The group also conducted a human chain and noise barrage in what they call the National Day of Protest.
The group insisted, DOH seems to have forgotten the promised benefits such as Special Risk Allowance or SRA, One COVID-19 allowance or OCA and others.
The group also called for increased salaries and prioritizing the health and safety of health workers throughout the country.
The group learned that the pandemic has been going on for more than two years and the work of the health workers continues but many of them are still not given benefits and they also do not get support from the DOH. Jocelyn Tabangcura-Domenden
