According to the tertiary industry activity index (2015 = 100, seasonally adjusted value) recently released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the accommodation industry decreased by 16.5% from the previous month to 78.2. Among them, the ryokan decreased by 17.5% to 58.0, and the hotel decreased by 14.5% to 86.5. The tertiary industry as a whole decreased by 0.6% to 99.2. “Overall, tertiary industry activity is on a recovery trend,” said the same survey.
The index comprehensively captures the production activities of industries belonging to the tertiary industry such as the service industry.
Looking at other industries, the travel industry decreased by 10.7% to 45.2. Of this, domestic travel decreased by 8.5% to 79.6. Overseas travel increased by 18.9% to 18.9. Foreign travel increased by 2.5% to 12.3.
