MANILA, Philippines – Malacanang should reveal the funds for President Bongbong Marcos’ lavish visit to Singapore.
According to House Deputy Minority Leader and ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. France Castro should find out publicly from Malacanang and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) if President Marcos used the G280 Gulfstream Command and Control aircraft to go to Singapore to watch the Grand Prix event.
According to him, the luxury flight only shows indifference to the starving Filipinos.
As for Assistant Minority Leader and Gabriela Women’s Party Rep. Arlene Brosas said President Marcos’s flight was inappropriate, saying it only showed his lack of sympathy even though the country was hit by typhoon Karding.
“It’s good that President Marcos has a budget for VIP access to the F1 Grand Prix with his family, while the Filipinos have almost nothing to eat,” he insisted.
Brosas insisted on the luxurious lifestyle of President Marcos Jr. one of the many reasons why their ranks are critical to the availability of massive confidential and intelligence funds of the Office of the President under the 2023 national budget of P4.5-billion.
The Office of the President is asking for a P9-billion budget and of the said amount, P4.5-billion is for confidential and intelligence funds, the said fund is almost the same as the term of former President Rodrigo Duterte but far from the time of the former President Noynoy Aquino with only P500-million.
Aside from the confidential and intelligence funds, the OP’s budget for local and foreign missions and state visits for the next year is P893.97 million. Gail Mendoza
