Actor Mark Hamill, best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movie saga, will become the ambassador of United24, a fundraising platforms, created after the start of the war by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. About it informs Washington Post newspaper.
Hamill has agreed to take on the challenge of raising funds for an organized on the platform project “Army of Drones”, in which Ukraine accepts donations for the purchase of drones or the devices themselves to use them to fight Russian troops, monitor the situation on the front line and gather intelligence.
Zelenskiy said during a phone call with Hamill:
As in Star Wars, good will triumph over evil, and light will triumph over darkness.
United24 raises funds for three types of activities: defense and demining; humanitarian and medical assistance; restoration of Ukraine. You can transfer money simply using a bank card. Nearly $188 million has already been raised, according to the platform.
Drone Army is an additional project organized by the General Staff of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and other departments. “Army of Drones will allow us to constantly monitor 2470 km of the front line and effectively respond to enemy attacks,” the project’s website says.
